OCTANE MEMBERSHIP
There will be four classes of members: Corporate, Academic, Individual and Student.
- Corporate membership will be open to technology-based companies or companies that make use or sell technology in manufacturing, service or high-value-added distribution industries or that design or produce innovative products or services, or that otherwised make substantial use of advanced technology and processes. Each Corporate member may designate one contact person, and, if desired, one alternate, to represent the Corporate member with respect to all meetings and affairs of the Corporation. All Corporate members shall have the right to cast one vote.
- Corporate membership status shall be of two types: (1) Small corporations with 100 or less employees; and (2) Large corporations with more than 100 employees. Each corporate membership shall have one vote. The “member” shall be deemed the Corporate entity and not the contact person, but the contact person shall cast his or her vote on behalf of the Corporate membership. Corporate members shall have the right to send additional company representatives to attend and participate in meetings of the Corporation, provided that such additional representatives shall not have the right to vote, or receive other benefits or privileges of membership, unless specifically extended to representatives by such offers or programs.
- Academic membership in the Corporation will be open to technology or business-oriented schools or departments of colleges, universities, or public school systems. Each Academic member shall designate one contact person, and if desired, one alternate, from the faculty of that school or department to represent the Academic member with respect to all meetings and affairs of the Corporation. All Academic members shall have the right to cast one vote. Academic members may also nominate additional Academic representatives from the faculty or staff of the school or department to attend and participate in meetings of the Corporation, provided however that such additional representatives shall not have the right to vote, or receive other benefits or privileges of membership, such as member discounts on programs, services, or materials.
- Individual membership will be open to persons involved in the utilization or advancement of technology in the community, including business, government, education, manufacturing, logistics, medicine, military, or value-added service providers that assist in the design, production, protection or advancement of technology or make substantial use of advanced processes. Each Individual member shall have the right to cast one vote, and to receive all other benefits and privileges of membership, such as member discounts on programs, services, or materials.
- Student memberships in the Corporation will be open to all full or part time students enrolled in at any school, college or university, technical schools, or other licensed educational institutions, but excluding training organizations for professional certifications and the like. Student membership is available on a case by case basis, as and when approved by the Board in its sole discretion. Student members shall not have the right to vote, but shall otherwise be entitled to receive all other benefits or privileges of membership, such as member discounts on programs, services, or materials.
- All applications for membership in the Corporation will be made to the Board of Directors in writing, with payment of the required application fee, and only upon action of the Board (or its nominee) will a candidate be elected to membership. The Board will limit the number of student memberships to a maximum proportion of twenty-five percent (25%) of the total membership.
